Depending on the source, anywhere from 10 to 30 percent of gift cards are unredeemed because people forget to use the gift cards they have received. And that’s a shame because unlike a traditional gift that the recipient feels obligated to keep, whether she likes it or not, a gift card is given with the hopes that it will be exchanged for something special–or at least something much needed. If you’ve received a gift card this past holiday season, here are some helpful tips for ways to use and stretch the value of the gift cards in your wallet.
