Father’s Day
When my babies were little and feedings, diapers, and meltdowns consumed my days, I thought every day was Father’s Day! Now I have a little more perspective and can appreciate all that my husband does for our family. I think he deserves to be honored once a year, if not more. Plus, there’s my own Dad who allegedly had to put up with my “sassy mouth” during the adolescent years.
Here are some gift card ideas to honor the Father’s in your life:
- Shoes to fill. I love seeing little kids try to walk in big people shoes. Get a gift card to the shoe store and a framed picture of your little ones trying to fill daddy’s shoes. So cute!
- Take me out to the ball game. Get dad a gift card to a nearby ballpark along with some peanuts and Cracker Jacks. You could even slip the gift card INSIDE the Cracker Jacks so he gets more than a tattoo for the “Surprise inside!”
- He’s hand-some. Have the kids trace their hand and write (or dictate to you) reasons why dad is the best ever. Then get him a gift card to a men’s salon or clothing store so he can strut his handsome stuff.
- King of the grill. Who else but dad would appreciate a gift card for meat?! Get a gift card from the local meat counter and include a new recipe, rub, or barbecue utensil. Or get a gift card to the barbecue supply store instead.
- Gift of time. Despite the endless hours us moms give to our children, there is something uniquely special about spending a little time with dad. Get the father in your life a gift card that facilitates quality time with the kids. Get him a gift card to the bookstore along with a book he can read to the kids. For an older dad or grandpa, make homemade bookmarks he can use while reading his new book.
- Dad’s day off. Even dads deserve a guilt-free day once in a while. Get your man a gift card for the golf course, fishing hole, hunting store, or whatever his passion is. Pack a cooler and send him out for a day all to himself.
- Camping. Does your dad or husband like to camp? Get him a gift card to a National Park (yes, they have them), and all the fixin’s for S’mores.
- Pop Rocks. Like the Father’s Day gift card giveaway we sponsored, get dad a gift card to the music store plus a pack of Pop Rocks candy. Write 10 reasons why “my pop rocks” on the card.
- His Store. I get a little tired of Father’s Day suggestions to update dad’s wardrobe. If he picks the same flannel shirt out of his closet every day, then don’t get him a gift card to a high-end department store to force him out of his ways. Get him a gift card to the flannel shirt store and so he can buy a new one. Add a note telling him you appreciate him just the way he is.
