Father’s Day Giveaway: My Pop Rocks!
Just out of high school, my dad started a band, cut a record, and signed a recording contract. After a little success and a few eye-opening experiences, he decided to go on a church mission and get his education instead.
Though his rock star days were short lived, he never stopped singing and playing the guitar at home. He often kicked off bedtime with a series of rock ‘n’ roll songs before ending with possibly the worst lullaby ever—“Old Shep” by Elvis. (The boy has to shoot his own dog. Are you kidding me Dad?)
In honor of my Dad and his sometimes poor song choices, we’re announcing the “My Pop Rocks!” Gift Card Giveaway for Father’s Day.
One winner, selected at random, will receive $60 in iTunes gift cards and a pack of Pop Rocks candy. You can take this idea, add a note telling dad why he rocks, and you’re all set for Father’s Day!
To enter this contest, leave a comment telling me why your pop rocks! And it doesn’t have to be music related. My pop also rocks because he taught me the value of hard work, how to make a lay-up, and got me interested in computers at a young age.
And don’t forget, we have other Father’s Day ideas on the site or you can take one of our birthday ideas for him and change the greeting.
Ok, answer the question! Why does your pop rock?
Legal Stuff: Contest open to continental US residents only. Contest ends Sunday, June 20that midnight PST. Winner will be notified by e-mail. Be sure our e-mail address (shelley@giftcardgirlfriend.com) clears your spam filter. If winner doesn’t respond within one month, a runner-up will be chosen.

I am no longer positive the place you’re getting your info, however great topic. I needs to spend some time finding out more or working out more. Thanks for magnificent information I used to be searching for this information for my mission.
My pop rocks because he is would do anything for his family. I love him so much & he is a role model for my children!
My dad rocks, he loves me unconditionally!
My pop rocks because he is always there for me. Anything I need, he’ll never say no. I don’t know what I’d do without him.
My pop rocks because he has always worked hard to provide for me and I know he loves me, even when he doesn’t always say it.

My pop rocks for lots of reasons! He was always singing when we were kids. We would all go stomping around the coffee table singing “If I Were A Rich Man” from Fiddler on the Roof. He was a singing usher at a an opera house when he was in college. Always lots of fun.
Thanks for the great giveaway!

My pop Rocks because he’s the hardest worker I know! Because of his example, he instilled in me an excellent work ethic from early on! I attribute all of the great job positions I’ve had to him!
My pop rocks because he’s always passionate about whatever he does. And he doesn’t give up on his dream of being a musician despite getting into it so late in the game. He’s also taught me to focus on getting things done and to work hard no matter what!
My Dad rocks because my is one tough cookie. In the last year or so, he has been through the ringer, broke a rib while riding a bike (and then continuing the ride), had surgery to remove his cancer, conquering it, and had a kidney stone.
My dad rocks because he has always worked hard for his family, and he would do anything for us. He’s always been a good role model, and he can make me laugh!
He has good taste in music and other stuff that he has introduced me to.
Well, honestly ,
my father and I havent been close. Until I moved out he was very strict on me which forced us apart emotionally.
Recently I quit college and I just knew how that would probably go when he found out. I work full time and I was going to college (taking out loan to pay it off later) part time. I still to this day dont know what it is that I want to do in life.
So, being that I like cosmetology and that I use to take the program in high school, I signed up for the schooling to get my license to become a cosmetologist. This costs almost 15,000.00 here. My loans will only cover about $10,000. of it. Being that I am under 25 and not married, I am still considered in my parents house hold ( which is stupid… I own my OWN house. ) , so I had to get some tax papers and
loan signatures and what not from them.
Basically long story short…. my dad talked to me. He told me that he will help me get the rest of the money I needed to get me out of my factory job.
Trust me, I never have felt so supported in a decision, and thats why he rocks.
My pop rocks because he carries a man purse without shame.
My Pop Rocks because we can visit about anything and laugh together in our “maturity”.
My pop rocks : ) because he has always been there for me, and will continue to be for the rest of my life. My dad has always encouraged me to work hard at everything I do and one day it would all pay off, and it did. I love my dad with all my heart and I am very thankful to have someone that attended EVERY single one of my college soccer games, and never missed an opportunity to see me. He is a tough guy that excels in everything he does, and always is full of positive energy. He is an amazing dad and has touched many peoples hearts, including my own!
What an awesome idea!i’m totally giving my dad pop rocks in his fathers day card this year! My dad rocks because not only has he been a great father and grandfather, my parents own a florist and the whole entire community LOVES my dad. When i go to visit and work at the florist for holidays, people all tell me what a lucky girl I am to have such a man for a father! I am always amazed at the stories they tell of the things he does while he’s out delivering flowers or off doing errands. He’s truly loved by his entire family and community!!
I love the theme, “My Pop Rocks” so clever. Anyways, my pop rocks because he taught me the value of an education and encouraged me to do my best. Without his encouragement and support I probably would not have the career and education that I have now.
My dad rocks because he comes to visit me across the country whenever he can!
My Pop Rocks because he was the perfect example of how a man should treat a woman. He took such good care of my mom and it has always made me expect the same treatment for myself from the men in my life.
My pop rocks because he’s funny, caring, and honest.
He would do anything for his kids (my sisters and I). Plus he’s funny and super smart.
This is an adorable idea first of all… why hadn’t I though about that??
My Pop Rocks for a million reasons, but I’d have to say I’ve never met a harder working man in my life. He rarely takes time for himself, and works hard every day to give his family of six kids & wife anything they want… i couldn’t have asked for a better one!
My Pop Rocks for a million reasons…however, what comes to mind first is this: While I was living in Europe and he was in the US, we trained for a marathon together (and believe me, I was not a runner at ALL prior to this!). When he came to visit, we ran all 26.2 miles together….and it was incredible! Thanks, Dad, for inspiring me to do something I’ve always wanted to do, but honestly didn’t think was possible!
I don’t have a relationship with my own dad, but my father in law rocks because he runs the local FFA group for kids as well as is a great teacher.
My pop rocks because he is a computer wiz! Any time I need computer advice I know exactly who to call!
What a great giveaway idea! My dad rocks because he is so solid. He is a big man and always made me feel safe and secure. He is always there for me. He was always kind and understanding when I made mistakes. He had to be I guess with 4 daughters, but as a parent now I am extra impressed by his calm understanding when I did stupid stuff. I sure love my dad!
My pop rocks because he has always been there, sacrificed anything for anyone, always puts God first and has always been my number one fan!
This giveaway is sooo adorable! My pop rocks because he can make anyone laugh. If he doesn’t make you laugh, then it’s because you are incapable!
My dad rocks because he is always there for me, willing to help in any way that I need. He is also so so sweet with my daughter, and seeing them together melts my heart a bit.
My dad is the best! He is absolutely hilarious, and can make any moment memorable. He also knows everything. I do not know how he does it, but he always seems to have a story about knowing someone or doing something (i.e. he knows EVERYTHING about cars, sailing, truck companies, sports, handywork and most of all music) I really have no idea how he does it, but I love it!
My pop rocks because he is so selfless. He ALWAYS puts everyone ahead of himself. He is amazing!
My Dad rocked because he taught me to be self reliant. For most of his life he was self employed and he taught me that working for yourself is nothing to be afraid of, but it does take hard work. I now am happy to be my own boss and I think he would be proud of me. He always believed that it’s important to do something as a career that you enjoy, even if it means maybe making a little less money and I do agree with that.
My pop rocks because he didn’t have to be my Dad. My mom remarried when I was five, I didn’t know my real father. My step-father stepped in and became dad in every sense of the word. He taught me right from wrong, gave love and discipline, taught me to fish and took me hunting. We went to hockey games and baseball games. He gave my boyfriends a hard time and gave me away at my wedding. We always say there are “no steps in our family” My pop rocks cuz…well, he’s mine and I’m his.

My dad rocks for many reasons, one being that he is a great listener…and he can fix anything!
My dad is amazing because he is such an example of kindness and humility. He serves my mom tirelessly, never complains, and is so others-focused. I love him so much!
My Father rocks for many reasons: for being a friend, as well as a father, for never jumping to conclusions, for going back to school when he lost his job at the age of 50 to pursue what he really wanted, and for being sober for 2 years and still going strong. I love you, Dadda!
